I did a thing…

Have you ever walked through the door at the end of a long day or week feeling utterly exhausted and defeated, trying to remember who you are, what you love, and who you want to be?

So I did a thing…

I’ve learned a lot about myself in the last two years. I have learned these things through self doubt. I was at my lowest self confidence at a time when I should have been the proudest of myself.

I did a thing…

I went on a girls trip with a great group of ladies, most of which I had never hung out with outside of a professional setting. It was out of my comfort zone and it was amazing. I had conversations and moments where I was at ease. I learned yet more about myself.

I did a thing…

I accepted an invite to present for a group of ladies about blogging. I remembered why I loved this. I also was made to admit why I had stopped.

I did a thing…

I joined the arts council, something I’ve wanted to do for years. I then joined two other boards that help bring positive initiatives and change to our community. I yet learned more about myself, I started to rediscover some of those things I loved, and I started to remember who I was.

I did a thing…

I accepted an invitation for a job interview. I learned that what I have to offer is important.

I did a thing…

I quit my “dream” job. This is devastating, empowering, and in the end, everything will be okay. Dreams can change, people can change. I think we should change, we should grow and we should realize when what we are doing no longer makes our heart sing. It is okay to take risk, to let everyone gasp and wonder why.

I did a thing…

With the support of my wonderful husband, I have found myself. I have realized what is important, and what needs to be left outside the door of my beautiful home.

Now is the time for me to continue to do the things that I love, that scare me, that challenge me, that make me laugh and cry and make my heart sing.

Find what makes your heart sing, and the rest truly will fall into place. Take the job interview, quit the job, jump on the plane, learn to play the piano! Just do a thing, and then another and another!

Do it for you; be kind, stay humble and love everyday.
