Wow, I have had Scarlet’s Letters for a whole year! How exciting!
I remember when I first told my Husband I wanted to start a blog, his response was “Why do you want to start a blog? Blogs are for pompous assholes who think people give a shit about what they have to say.”
He later apologized and has since been extremely supportive throughout this year. He takes pictures without complaining, he offers to edit -even if I don’t want him to, he even helps brainstorm topic ideas with me.
My girlfriends too have been nothing but supportive, each have had an impact in some way or another with at least one post. It either involves them or they have had some great feedback in regards to it. There are also a few that continue to ride my ass if I haven’t done a post in a while. To these ones, I appreciate you dearly. My best advice: lets go do something blog worthy!
This first year of blogging has been interesting. I know it just seems like laughter around here all the time, but behind the scenes, there has been a ton of work, and even some tears. I have thought about throwing in the towel on more than one occasion, and have wondered if this little blog is even worth anything to anybody. I’ve on more than one occasion felt that what I have to say isn’t important or that I am putting myself at risk by saying the things I want to.
What keeps me going are the sweet messages I get from you, my readers and friends. It makes my day when somebody tells me they were brought to tears of laughter or could completely relate to one of my posts, or when people recognize that the whole reason I do this blog is because I am just an ordinary person and we all fuck up sometimes!
I wanted to clear something up, I in no way judge other style bloggers or feel like they’re not doing the right thing. I just wanted to say that my reason for doing a style portion on my blog is because I always struggled with being able to express myself when I was younger. I wore what other people wore because that was the norm. I molded myself to “fit it”. As I got older, and more truthfully, after meeting my Husband, found a way to express myself and my personality through my clothes. On more than one occasion my girlfriends and sometimes strangers have commented on the bizarre things I wear. Shopping with Rosey one time, she couldn’t believe I was about to buy this grey lace top dress with a silk colourful bottom. I said to her, I sure am AND “I’m going to rock it!” She replied with an “I know…I hate you for it.” HA! She loves me!
I hope that the other things I post here are entertaining to you. I know I post some ridiculous things but the truth is we all should be able to live our lives our own way permitting we don’t hurt anyone else.
For my one year post I am going to touch on a few things that many of you may not know about me.
My favorite food: Pizza, and chocolate chip cookies. Typical
My favorite book: Anything Harry Potter
Favorite movie: Beauty and the Beast
Favorite pastime: Baking
Truth be told: There isn’t much I wouldn’t do for a starbucks
Favorite things in life: animals ❤
Yay to one year! Lets hope for another year to come!
